RHINESTONE CZECH MARKET
In the Czech market have appeared recently as perfect imitations of diamonds gems that fail to distinguish authentic even experienced jewelers.
The buyer can be easily cheated: the value of a fake diamond is ten times lower than that of a real stone. The president of the Gemological Czech Michal Koselja, reported in a press conference that the price of a real diamond 5 mm reaches 50 thousand crowns, equivalent to about $ 1300. Meanwhile, the value of a faux stone is 5 kronor, or about $ 130.
The fake diamonds are obtained from carbon silicide, named moissannita.Este material used in the electrotechnical industry, originally had a yellow tint, but since 1998 there are technologies that make possible to manufacture moissannitas diaphanous almost indistinguishable from real diamonds .
Only two countries have the technology to manufacture moissannitas-United States and Russia. It appears that fake gems sold in the Czech Republic are imported illegally from Russia.
Michal Koselja Czech Gemological Society explained that due to the primary use of the moissannita in the electronics industry, in virtually crimping jewelry waste.
The situation is complicated by the fact that in the Czech Republic there is no state agency charged with overseeing the quality of gems imported and to which the customer can turn to if they have doubts about the authenticity of a diamond.
The president of the Guild of Jewellers, Jiri Kralik, qualified that his colleagues reported six cases of sales of jewelry with fake gems. Defrauded customers lost hundreds of thousands of crowns
